Issue #28 — We’ve Turned a Corner
| January 15, 2013 | Posted by admin under News |
Steve Wagenseller served as News Director of HTS since July of 2012.
It’s a so-long-and-thanks-for-all-the-fish moment for me at Hitting The Stage. As of tomorrow, I will be putting aside my blue pencil (do editors have blue pencils anymore?), relinquishing my post as News Editor, and slipping away into the theatrical night. Well, more or less. I still plan to write a few articles and perhaps a few reviews for this great site, but the title of News Editor will be passed along to someone fresher (and hopefully younger) — and that’s the way it is in theatre….
HTS provides a terrific service for the local theatre community. It deserves your help as well, dear readers. It’s a community forum as well as a site for reading great behind-the-scenes interviews, insightful reviews, and the occasional article or opinion that raises some issues—or starts a controversy.
I’ve been proud to be a part of it.
With that bit of news out of the way, let’s see what’s on the HTS menu for this week.
- Boeing-Boeing opened at Manoa Valley Theatre and a number of our staff reviewers were there to enjoy and to critique. Check out the reviews by Yining Lin, Kim Shire, & Scott Robertson.
- Also check out our backstage gallery of the show!
- Rap’s Hawaii returned to the Honolulu Theatre for Youth stage and two of our reviewers have their say about the production: Malia Baloyot & Nicole Tessier.
- Our indefatigable assistant editor Nicole Tessier has also produced a full and chatty edition of The Green Room, chock full of the happenings at theatres around Honolulu. Drop into TGR and see what’s up!
Enjoy!
Steve

Thanks, Steve, for all your work putting HTS together and making it run!
