Director Vanita Rae Smith has announced four plays for the second season of Windward Readers Theatre.
DEUCE, with Peggy Anne Siegmund of Kailua and Cecilia Fordham in the leading roles, with Jayme Alexander will play November 5, 7, and 10 at the Pohai Nani Senior Residence in Kaneohe. Tuesday and Thursday shows are 7 p.m., Sunday show at 2 p.m. Kelly Short and Ryan Becker are in supporting roles.
Smith says DEUCE, funny and touching, tells the story of retired tennis stars (thus the title). Nearing the end of their lives, they meet again at the U.S. Open and try to make sense of the professional partnership that took them to the top of the tennis world. Angela Lansbury and Marian Seldes starred in the original production of the play written by Terrence McNally.
The production is open and free to the public, with donations to the calabash suggested to cover royalty costs. Reservations for the open seating are suggested by calling 254-4885.
Succeeding plays and dates are:
LADIES AT THE ALAMO by Paul Zindel plays January 7, 9, and 12, 2014, with a star studded cast of local theatre veterans, Jo Pruden, Cecilia Fordham, Shari Lynn, Kathe James, and Sylvia Hormann Alper.
